The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S Cabriolet Extralusso, a masterpiece crafted by Stabilimenti Farina, reflects the distinctive touch of Giovanni Michelotti‘s design prowess. Michelotti ventured into a unique stylistic experiment with this model, evident in the commanding presence of the massive front grille adorned with horizontal strips. While this design choice didn’t become a recurring theme for Alfa Romeo, it found resonance in 1947 when it was adopted on Fiat and Lancia models crafted by Stabilimenti Farina. This exceptional Cabriolet Extralusso variant is a rare gem, a testament to its exclusivity with only a few examples configured on both the Alfa Romeo Super Sport short chassis and the Sport chassis, available in cabriolet and fastback coupe versions. Of these, only two specimens endure, and the one in focus stands out in a captivating aluminised blue hue. Adding to its allure, this particular model features a lavishly designed dashboard courtesy of Mario Revelli di Beaumont. The dashboard not only exudes opulence but also houses a rudimentary prototype of a “board computer,” showcasing an early exploration into automotive technology. The steering wheel, patented by Beaumont, further emphasizes the commitment to innovation and personalized craftsmanship.
