Originally delivered to Max Hoffman in 1954, a prominent exotic vehicle importer based in New York, this Jaguar XK120 embarked on a journey that would eventually lead it to the spotlight of the Geneva Motor Show in 1955, followed by an appearance at the Autocar Show later that same year. Fast forward to 2015, when the car found itself in the hands of CMC, who undertook the monumental task of restoring it to its former glory. The restoration process, spanning a staggering 6,275 hours of meticulous work, encountered numerous challenges along the way. One such obstacle was the quest to find the original paint color, a crucial element in recreating the car’s authentic aesthetic. Additionally, the restoration team faced the daunting task of remaking the bumpers and rear windshield, essential components that contribute to the XK120 Pininfarina’s distinctive appearance. The restoration journey involved a comprehensive makeover of the vehicle’s body, including the installation of a new front end, rear quarter panels, inner arch panels, boot floor, sills, and door skins. Every aspect of the chassis was meticulously repaired and repainted to perfection. The front and rear bumpers were remade, along with 80 percent of the original chrome work, ensuring a flawless finish that stayed true to the car’s heritage. The rear windshield and windshield surround were also meticulously restored to their former glory. No detail was overlooked during the restoration process, extending even to the car’s interior, which underwent a complete re-trim to uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship and luxury.
