The Ghia 1500 GT fuoriserie.
The Ghia 1500 GT was unveiled at the Turin Motor Show in November 1962, it was based on the Fiat 1500 chassis. This coupe version is based on the platform of the Fiat 1500 sedan with a shortened wheelbase of 234.5 cm instead of 242 cm. The front axle features the famous Gilco tube chassis. Designed by Sergio Sartorelli it features the characteristic Ghia frontgrille that recalls other projects of the Turin based coachbuilder. Once the project was approved by Fiat management, the car was initially marketed under the name Fiat 1500 GT and then, from 1964, under Ghia 1500 GT. During six years only 846 exemplars were produced instead of 2000 initially planned (5 a day with a total of 36 exported to the U.S.). The price of each model was quite high for that time. One single roadster was made.
