Renault Floride Cabriolet

Practical but also fun, you would come across these easy and elegant cars in the 1960s, on the cliff roads of the French Riviera. Based on the mechanics of the Dauphine, the Floride has an Italian-designed body that was inspired by a stylistic proposal by Virgil Exner for Ghia, subsequently refined by Pietro Frua.

Vehicle Overview

The Renault Floride Cabriolet was unveiled by Ghia at the 1958 Paris Motor Show, it was marketed in the USA, where it was called Caravelle and promot ed by iconic French actress Brigitte Bardot. Grace Kelly was given one, and it was part of the Prince Ranieri’s collection in Monaco for many years. It was produced in several versions: a two-seater coupé, a two-seater convertible, and subsequently a 2+2 convertible, also in a version with a hardtop.
