Aston Martin DB2/4 Coupé Allemano

Chassis

#LML/761

Built in Torino, and designed by Giovanni Savonuzzi, this is the only Allemano-bodied Coupe.

Vehicle Overview

The Aston Martin DB2/4 Allemano is a remarkable one-off coupé, built on a DB2/4 chassis but featuring a three-liter racing engine equipped with triple Weber carburetors. This unique configuration made it a standout in the Aston Martin lineup, and the car is believed to have influenced the design of the later DB4 due to its elegant and modern appearance. Chassis number LML/761 was purchased directly from the factory by J. O’Hana of Casablanca, a close friend of Aston Martin’s owner, David Brown. Along with the chassis, O’Hana acquired a DB3-spec engine, further enhancing the car’s performance credentials. After receiving the chassis, O’Hana shipped the car to Italy to be fitted with the custom coachwork it still carries today. Originally, the car was believed to have been designed by Giovanni Savonuzzi and built by Carrozzeria Allemano. However, evidence later surfaced that suggested the design may have originated from Pininfarina, as told by the car’s original owner. The car’s sleek Berlinetta body was crafted by Carrozzeria Allemano in Turin. Despite its striking resemblance to the later 1958 Aston Martin DB4, this unique DB2/4 was designed and built five years earlier, in 1953, showcasing an advanced design language for its time. After undergoing a meticulous restoration, this exceptional Aston Martin was presented at the 1994 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where it won Best in Class, further cementing its status as an extraordinary piece of automotive history. Some still speculate that Bertone may have had a hand in its creation, but this has not been definitively confirmed. Regardless, the DB2/4 Allemano remains an iconic example of bespoke coachbuilding and design innovation.
