The Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI) continues its commitment to fostering young talent in the automotive world by reviving the prestigious “Concorso Grifo d’Oro.” Originally launched in 1965 by legendary talent scout Nuccio Bertone, this international contest aims to discover and nurture the next generation of car designers. Bertone, renowned for recognizing and promoting some of the most iconic designers of the 20th century, such as Marcello Gandini, Giorgetto Giugiaro, and Franco Scaglione, created the competition as a platform for young visionaries.
The “Concorso Grifo d’Oro ASI 2025” stays true to its original mission, providing a stepping stone for hidden talents passionate about car design. The competition retains the fundamental principles set by Bertone, including the requirement for participants to create measurable and technically viable design sketches. Entrants must develop their projects based on a pre-defined chassis, incorporating mechanical components, driver positioning, wheel movements, and current regulations. This ensures the feasibility of the proposed designs, preventing unrealistic concepts.
The contest is open to amateur designers under the age of 30. The winner will receive a prestigious award, a financial grant of €5,000, and an internship opportunity with leading automotive companies partnering in the initiative.
Enrico Fumia, the distinguished car designer and member of the ASI Commission for Car Manufacturers and Designers, expressed his gratitude towards ASI for revitalizing this historical competition. “I thank ASI for embracing the idea of relaunching Bertone’s initiative. As a young designer, I won the 1966 Junior category at just 18 years old. For years, I have aspired to provide professional opportunities for young talents who deserve to emerge.”
ASI President Alberto Scuro emphasized the significance of this initiative in maintaining Italy’s leadership in automotive design: “We look to history to build the future, where today’s youth will be the key players. Our goal is to provide them with this opportunity while reinforcing Italy’s primary role in car design. For over a century, our country has shaped the global automotive aesthetic, and we want to ensure this legacy continues.”
