Citroën Ami: Castagna Milano unveils a luxurious version of the EV

The Milanese company started from the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera of the 16-year-old’s father to realise this special project

A fully customised Citroën Ami with a very special touch: this is the latest creation from the Castagna Milano atelier, created to meet the request of a loyal customer and to delight his 16-year-old son with a unique vehicle.

The Ami is a lightweight quadricycle that brings a breath of fresh air to the electric vehicle scene. With its versatility in juggling cars in city traffic, and a zero-emission commitment, it is an environmentally friendly and highly economical little gem.

The design has several references to the father's DBS Superleggera

Castagna Milano, the famous vehicle customisation atelier, took up the challenge and transformed the French carmaker’s EV into something completely unique. Following the request of a loyal customer, a customised version of the Ami was created for the customer’s 16-year-old son, with an aesthetic touch inspired by his father’s Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.

The new creation features a black body with matt and gloss finishes, interspersed with yellow details that stand out in contrast, reflecting Aston Martin’s distinctive design. Castagna Milano designed 60 unique pieces for this Citroën Ami, 40 of which were eventually used in the construction, made using 3D printing techniques and recycled plastic.

The exterior modification package includes new front and rear bumpers with more aggressive surfaces, skid plates with a glossy black finish that contrasts with the matt bodywork, and a new design for the Citroën logo. The elegant alloy wheels have been replaced with a new set in gloss black with a five double-spoke design, a clear reference to the DBS Superleggera.

Alcantara and Leather for the interior

Inside, the customised Ami sports black Alcantara and leather upholstery with yellow detailing on the dashboard, seats, door panels and roof. The selector has been relocated from the left side of the driver’s seat to the dashboard, freeing up space for an additional storage compartment.

Under the bodywork remains the classic Citroën Ami, with its small 8 hp electric motor and 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, which provides up to 70 km range on a single charge.

This fully customised example is a unique example of how vehicle customisation can lead to truly unique and fascinating creations, combining the aesthetics of a luxury car with the practicality and sustainability of an urban electric vehicle.

Ford Probe I

Monterey, CA – The automotive world is in mourning following the tragic loss of the 1979 Ford Ghia Probe I Prototype, which was involved in a highway accident late Sunday. The vehicle, part of the prestigious Scott Grundfor Company collection, was en route home after its recent appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance when the accident occurred.

The Scott Grundfor Company, known for its dedication to preserving automotive history, had cherished the Probe I for over 20 years. This one-of-a-kind prototype, crafted by Ford in collaboration with the renowned design firm Carrozzeria Ghia, was a groundbreaking example of aerodynamic innovation from the late 1970s. The car’s sleek, aerodynamic design and its role in advancing automotive efficiency made it a significant piece of automotive heritage.

Fortunately, Jackson, the team member driving the trailer transporting the Probe I, was unharmed. His swift and courageous actions played a crucial role in containing the accident and preventing further damage or harm to others on the highway. The first responders, including firemen and police officers, also played a vital role in managing the situation and minimizing the impact of the incident.

Scott Grundfor and Drew, who have been the proud stewards of the Probe I, expressed their profound sadness at the loss. They are deeply grateful for the time they had with the vehicle and extend their heartfelt thanks to all who supported them during this challenging time.

The remains of the Probe I will be transported back to Arroyo Grande, where it will join other Ghia/Ford prototypes in their collection. Despite this significant loss, the legacy of the Ford Probe I will continue to inspire and remind us of the innovative spirit that shaped automotive design.

At Carrozzieri Italiani, we extend our deepest sympathy to Scott Grundfor Company for the loss of this remarkable piece of automotive history. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
